Brisbane Sounds 2011 Submissions NOW OPEN!
Brisbane Sounds in partnership with Music Industry College are proud to announce that submissions are now open for Brisbane music artists to apply to be on the Brisbane Sounds 2011 compilation album.
Established in 2006, Brisbane Sounds (www.brisbanesounds.com) is a non-profit advocacy organisation that has been developed to nurture Brisbane’s musical heritage as well as educate, support and promote to the world the outstanding diversity and quality of music in the Brisbane music scene.
Since its inception in 2006 Brisbane Sounds has supported more than 150 Brisbane bands through gigs, publicity, project development and mentoring. The annual Brisbane Sounds compilation has featured 77 Brisbane Bands including An Horse, Hungry Kids of Hungary, My Fiction, Laneous & The Family Yah, Ball Park Music and The Gin Club from the genres of rock, indie, instrumental, blues, punk, pop, hip-hop and alt-country.
2010 was a year of unprecedented growth for Brisbane Sounds which saw the development of the free BRISSOUNDS gig guide app, international touring, establishment of the all ages YOUNG BLOODS and 100 Club events, school workshops as well as our greatest achievement in having Brisbane Sounds included as part of the business curriculum at Brisbane’s Music Industry College (www.mic.org.au).
Brisbane Sounds are pleased to announce that the selection committee for 2011 will include Mike Walsh from XFM Radio (UK), Mason Brazelle from WKZQ Radio (USA), Shin Fukiyama from P-Vine (Japan), Jakomi Matthews from The Music Void (UK) as well as 25 students from Music Industry College who through this project will further develop their skills in music production, publicity, graphic design, social media as well as project, tour and event management.

The Brisbane Sounds 2011 selection committee are now ready to take submissions from BRISBANE artists.
The Brisbane Sounds 2011 selection committee will be looking for artists who meet the following selection criteria:
1. Brisbane band or artist.
2. Brisbane Sounds is open to EVERY genre of music.
3. High quality original music is performed by the band or artist.
4. Actively participate and support the Brisbane music scene and the Brisbane Sounds vision.
5. Quality mastered recordings or the ability to achieve a final mastered recording by the Brisbane Sounds CD mastering deadline (Early May TBA).
Submissions for Brisbane Sounds 2011 need to include the following:
1. One track ONLY on CD or digital download (LP, EP, Single CD) of your music. It is not essential that your music is mastered at this stage. However if selected for Brisbane Sounds 2011, it is your responsibility to have your track mastered.
2. Band or artist contact details (Email, Phone, Web, Myspace). This will all be kept confidential and only used for contact between Brisbane Sounds and the artist.
3. Photo of artist.

Conditions
If selected for Brisbane Sounds 2011 the artist will be required to pay a one off fee of $250 + GST ($275) to assist with the production and distribution costs. All other costs will be covered by Brisbane Sounds and Music Industry College.
Brisbane Sounds 2011 artists will:
1. Produce 3000 copies of Brisbane Sounds 2011 (2000 extra copies compared to previous years) to be used as FREE promotional items and not sold as per previous years.
2. Provide 50 copies to each band/artist to use as promotional items
3. Promotion and distribution of Brisbane Sounds 2011 to local, national and international music markets.
4. Featured artist on BRISSOUNDS mobile app.
5. Provide mentoring, project management, social media and publicity advice and support.
6. Exclusive discounts within the Brisbane music community.
